Dear Rick Stein
I am writing to inform you that I would like to be employed as a member of your waiting staff because I am at catering college and I am classed as very good at waiting on tables.
However, I think I am very good because I have won four medal for my Shellfish starters and my customer service is excellent. I am very polite and I think you are fabulous.
I passed all my exams at school and obtained grade A's. If you need any other information please contact me on my home phone number.
I would really appreciate it if you could consider me for this job.
Yours sincerely
Emily

Writing to look forward to
This week Oak 1 will be writing formal letters using formal and emotive language about the food and service at a restaurant. We have turned our Reading Area into a restaurant and have plans to continue working on our digi blue films which we hope to upload to our year 6 page on our school website.
We have now had a second email from Rick Stein's Personal Assistant and they are very interested in the writing Oak 1 will be working on during this non fiction writing unit! Oak 1 begin designing and producing their leaflets today for promoting the recently refurbished Seafood Restaurant.

Serena Up Levels Miss G's Action Opening
As the fuel gauge reached empty, Adam Lyon started to feel edgy. The assengers knew something was wrong. CRASH!!! The plane thudded onto an island full of green with a serene atmosphere.
At this point, Adam Lyons knew there was no way out of this green world.
Twittering noises surrounded him, as mist lingered around reluctantly.
"Arrgh! How could this happen, fate has taken it's place," Adam shouted in dismay.
He knew he'll spend his days living in this endless world. Adam lollaped around until he could not go on any further.
"But I have to go on for the sake of me life." He thought swearing to himself.
There was a shuffling, a racket high up in the trees. It was his father!! Their eyes instantly connected. Adam went to touch him but he just faded away like a holographic figure.
Time went on and on rapidly, that he grew so hungry that he collapsed dramatically on the moist ground. Anxiously, he scavenged for food until he found a garden burstng with life and light. Adam knew that he would live.
Off he went, scoffing his face with fresh fruit like the world was ging to end. At the corner of his pale blue eye he saw something venturing down. He halted at a dark brick wall.

The Giant's Necklace by Sam
Shorty after their mum went home to make the tea the boys followed and left Cherry at the beach.
There mum screeched, "Where's Cherry?"
The boys exclaimed, "we left her at the beach."
"So go and get her!"
"Ok mum."
So they searched for Cherry. "Any trace?" one of the brothers asked. "No but there are footsteps what's stopped."
"Well better keep going."
"Cherry, Cherry"
"Ok I'l run home and say we've only found footprints."
When they got home the police were there. "Ok mm, police, we've found footprints."
"Well show me then," said the policeman.
"It's here but they stopped"

Adventure story by Bethany
Using Serena's up levelled action opening
As the fuel gauge reached empty, Adam Lyons started to feel edgy. the passengers knew something was wrong.
CRASH!!! The plane thudded onto an island full of green, with a serene atmosphere. At this point, Adam Lyons knew there was no way out of this green world.
A few hours later, as the sun reached the highest point in the sky, Adam took in a deep breath of fresh air. Alarming and disturbing thoughts drifted around Adam's brain, like a fly sttracted to bright lights.
How was he supposed to defend himself without weapons? Where would he find materials to make a shelter? Where was he supposed to find food? Hopefully his questions would be answered soon.
Luckily, when he was younger, Adam was a very talented cub scout and had many medals, badges and certificates for nearly everything. Including: medical aid, navigation, camping and many more!
But this didn't answer the most important question of all - whne was he going to get off this god-foresaken island?
Adam had no idea what materials he could find to make a shelter, he was still apprehensive about wondering through this green world. As for finding food, Adam was very cautious about what lurked behind a corner, and he also had no weapons to kill pure meat. Adam had always taken getting food from the supermarket for granted but now he realised how hard it really was to survive.
